Stanley's Famous Pitt BBQ, Tyler Texas - The BEST BBQ In The State Of Texas.

The Rose City.

Stanley's Famous Pitt BBQ is without a doubt the finest bbq that I have ever consumed. I want you to consider that statement for a moment. I've lived well over 90 % of my life in North East Texas, the region that produces the world's best barbecue. When people from my neck of the woods eat barbecue, and comment on it, we know more about what we are saying than people from any other region in the entire world.
Situated about seventy miles East of the Dallas and Ft. Worth metroplex is the lovely Rose City, Tyler, Texas; and in Tyler, Texas - you are truly in East Texas, and you can smell the clean, lovely scent of the pine trees in the air around you. The finest barbecue in the entire world is found in Tyler, Texas; and so, Tyler Texas is the home of Stanley's Famous Pitt BBQ.

Stanley's Famous Pitt BBQ.

Texas Monthly Magazine.

Texas Monthly is the finest, and most respected publication concerning the people, places, and things found in the most wide open, scenic, and industrious state in the United States of America. When Texas Monthlysays that you have the finest pork ribs in the state of Texas, then it's easily translated into the more common vernacular as "you've got the finest pork ribs in the entire world!"
Now, as for me, I didn't need the September 2010 Texas Monthlyconfirmation concerning who has the best pork ribs in the great state of Texas.  I'd already had some, and so I already knew.

Stanley's Famous Pitt Master.

Pitt Master Jonathan.

Texas is a place full of friendly characters, and amazing barbecue chefs, Stanley's Famous Pitt BBQ is a place that features one person in particular who stands out in both of those categories. Pitt Master Jonathan is a longtime master in the art of Texas Pitt Barbecue, and he's ran the kitchen of more than one outstanding East Texas BBQ venue.
It would be a study in understatement were I to say that I know this character.  I've known him well my whole life, and I never, ever get tired of eating whatever he cooks, I only wish that I had more opportunities to do so.

History.

Stanley himself has been off of the scene for more than a decade, but with a new owner and pit master, who took over the nearly 60 year-old-joint in 2000, has revived the quality of itsbarbecue--all the usual suspects plus ham and turkey--and spruced up the atmosphere: It's now a cross between a fifties diner and a rustic hunting lodge. They also tinkered with the tangy house sauce, but the thick slices of lean brisket (smoked for 16+ hours) and juicy pork-and-beef sausage taste better left alone. If you visit at lunch, consider a sandwich called the Brother-in-Law: hotlink, chopped beef, and cheese. Yes, cheese. You'll wonder why it hasn't been a barbecue staple forever.

Stanley's proudly stands as one of the oldest operating restaurants in Tyler, Texas! Stanley's has been family owned and operated for 50 years and is proudly still a "Mom & Pop" joint. Proprietors Nick and Jen Pencis welcome you to come and taste the difference and promise you'll always be greeted with a friendly smile! So please tell your family and friends and come back often! We appreciate your support!!
You can now enjoy our 'cue on our new deck. And what goes better with lip smack'n ribs than a cold Shiner Bock beer? Pack a cooler and head on down. We're bringing the absolute best live entertainment in East Texas. Come see what you've been miss'n! You won't be sorry...
